Prep Lax finishes Well

Seton Hall Prep Lacrosse had high expectations coming into the year, ranked nationally and inside the top five in the state. This experienced team, led by Senior UNC Commit Matt Wrede, has one goal in mind: to bring SHP their first lacrosse Tournament of Championship. The Pirates started the season hot with dominant wins against Montclair and Chatham, and they outlasted Rumson-Fair Haven 8-7. However, they faced adversity early, falling to Summit 8-3. In a critical win, the Pirates bounced back, defeating Westfield 13-5. SHP has only lost to one NJ team (Summit) as they were defeated by Brunswick (CT) and Malvern Prep (PA) in overtime.

Midway through the year, the Pirates started to catch fire. They dominated all teams in their conference and won paramount games against Delbarton, Manasquan, and Iona Prep. In the Essex County Tournament, the Pirates handled Glen Ridge and Montclair and easily set up a date against West Essex in the finals. SHP got off to a plodding start and trailed 6-5 in the fourth quarter. The presence of Aidan Donovan lifted the Pirates to their ninth county championship win in a row. Donovan, named MVP, had two goals and an assist in the fourth quarter. Due to their excellent play this season, SHP was awarded the second seed in the Non-Public A Championship.
